We are excited to announce that Mike Larson will be joining our team as the new Principal for the 2026-2027 school year! Mike Larson is a seasoned educator with over fifteen years of experience at Grant Elementary, where he taught grades 3–6 and served as a CARE Specialist. Throughout his career, he has balanced classroom excellence with instructional leadership, mentoring student teachers, facilitating teacher induction programs, and leading professional development. Mike is dedicated to building collaborative, respectful school environments that empower both students and staff. We look forward to the energy and leadership he will bring to our South Bay School community.
As we welcome Principal Larson, we do so with a profound awareness of the legacy left behind by Heather Becksted. We know that no one can ever truly replace Heather; her impact on our hearts and our halls is permanent. We believe the best way to honor her memory is by continuing the work she loved so dearly. Mike is dedicated to keeping South Bay the incredible, supportive, and student-focused community it has always been, ensuring that the excellence Heather championed remains our standard.
Principal Larson will be spending more time on campus in the coming months to become acquainted with our students, staff and families. He looks forward to meeting each of you and working closely with the staff to ensure a smooth and inspired transition.
Please join us in giving a warm South Bay welcome to Mike Larson!
